“It is true,” she said.
She said

“I can’t swim,” he says. He says
(that) he can’t swim.
идет об универсальных истинах;
“The sun rises in the East,” the
teacher said. The teacher said (that) the sun rises in the East.
3) если
информация в придаточном предложении все еще актуальна;
“She is seeing the headmaster
tonight,” he said.
He said (that) she is seeing the
headmaster tonight.
с Past
Simple и Past Continuous,
в которых длительное действие прерывается кратким;
“When I entered the classroom, the
bell rang,” he said.
He said (that) when he entered the
classroom, the bell had rung.
5) в
“I would be happy if I were flying
to Barcelona with the family,” she said.
She said (that) she would be happy
if she were flying to Barcelona with the family.
